Pornography is INCREDIBLY HARMFUL to children and alters the formation of their brain.
Nine out of ten boys will see pornography before they turn eighteen, and the average age of first exposure to pornography is twelve but can be as young as 8 or 9.
Kids can learn to reject pornography if parents are willing to have the hard conversation.
With technology and the internet as a crucial and necessary part of life, pornography has never been more easily accessible to children: 93% of boys and 63% of girls report being exposed to internet pornography before the age of 18, with the average age of first exposure being 12 years old.
The constant flood of influence that comes through the internet and social media in all of its various forms, along with social pressures from peers make it difficult for children to live virtuous and holy lives. In the digital age, it’s not a matter of if your child will see something inappropriate online. It’s only a matter of when. And regrettably, internet pornography is teaching our children how and what to think about sex and marriage.
The most powerful tool we have when it comes to teaching our children about the beauty of their sexuality in the digital age is conversation. Real, honest, “look them in the eyes” conversations about their deep questions. In the digital age, passive parenting is not an option—the internet never rests.
