Fr. Ryan was born in Boise, Idaho and grew up through the sixth grade in his father’s hometown
of Owosso, Michigan. His parents Charley and Dixie purchased a golf course in 1993 and
moved the family to Saranac, MI. Fr. Ryan graduated from St. Patrick High School (Portland,
MI) in 2001. He then went on to attend Alma College earning a BA in Accountancy in 2005 and
worked for over five years as a state auditor with the Office of the Auditor General.
In 2010 Fr. Ryan entered Sacred Heart Major Seminary. In 2012 he earned a Bachelor’s of Philosophy
(BPhil) and in 2016 he earned both a Masters of Divinity (MDiv) from Sacred Heart Major
Seminary and a Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology (STB) from the Pontifical University of St.
Thomas (Rome, Italy conferred through the faculty of Sacred Heart Major Seminary). Fr. Ryan
was ordained a priest in June 2016.
His parents reside full-time in Florida and his brother, Shane, resides in Grand Rapids, MI. Both his father and his brother are PGA golf professionals.
