Volunteers from the St. Vincent de Paul Society prepare lunch for as many as 100 guests on the third Saturday of each month at Advent House, located at the corner of Oakland Avenue and Martin Luther King Blvd in Lansing. Volunteer cooks arrive at 9 a.m. and are usually done by 11:30; servers arrive by 11:00 to serve the meal. Serving normally takes about an hour, but you will be done no later than 1 p.m.
During the Covid 19 pandemic, Advent House is offering only “to go” meals to those in need. Once we return to serving meals, we welcome parishioners to volunteer with us in serving this monthly meal.
Homeless Angels
In the summer of 2021, a group of parishioners under the direction of the St. Vincent de Paul Society began preparing and serving a hot meal as part of the Homeless Angels’ Dinner in the Park program. The location of the meal rotates among parks in Lansing, with food prepared for as many as 100 guests.
